County Jail

Four people were recently booked into the Putnam County Jail.

* At 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Wesley January, 23, Greencastle, was arrested for theft and driving on a suspended license.

At 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Derrick Allen Burchett, 36, Greencastle, was arrested on a probation violation.

* At 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Brandy Lynn Turner, 40, Cloverdale, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, battery on law enforcement, public intoxication and indecent exposure.

At 7:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Eva Margaret Clark, 65, Cloverdale, was charged with operated while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, George M. Cox, 31, Wyoming, Mich., advised Sgt. Gregg Slover that he was traveling eastbound on County Road 200 South from State Road 75 when he lost control of his 2014 Ford Mustang.

Cox advised that he attempted to regain control of his vehicle, but over corrected causing the vehicle to leave the north side of the roadway, making contact with a ditch before coming to rest.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

A 26-year-old Greencastle man has been arrested and charged in connection with a recent burglary and theft, Greencastle City Police reported.

Jeffery Adkins was arrested at his Vine Street apartment by GPD Officer Darrel Bunten at 12:35 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit burglary and theft.

Adkins is being charged in connection with an incident at the Phillips 66 convenience store at 805 Indianapolis Rd. He is alleged to have stolen cigars and cartons of cigarettes.

One recent property-damage accident was reported by city officers.

-- At 8 a.m. Wednesday, a two-car mishap was reported on State Road 240 near Calbert Way.

Joseph Myers, 36, Fillmore, had stopped for the flashing red light at the intersection and the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria he was driving, belonging to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, was struck from behind by a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Brendt Freeman, 18, Fillmore.

Freeman told Officer Albert Epple he thought Myers was going to continue through the flashing red light.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Three recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 10:43 p.m. Monday, Justin Burnham, 27, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Kyle Lee at Bloomington Street and Veterans Highway and cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 1:55 a.m. May 9, Jullio Robero, 25, Cloverdale, was stopped by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter at 10th Street and Indianapolis Road. Robero was cited for driving without a license.

-- At 10:36 p.m. May 9, Jordan Brewer, 17, Camby, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for disregarding a stopsign at Shadowlawn and North College avenues.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one fire and one lift assist since Tuesday.

* At 2:08 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, GFD responded to an outside fire at the ATO fraternity house located at 509 E. Seminary St. Upon arrival, GFD found furniture burning in the front yard. The fire was extinguished and firefighters determined the fire had been ignited intentionally.
