Putnam veterans to be remembered with roses this Memorial Day

Sunday, May 18, 2014

In honor of Memorial Day, Furniture AwareHouse in Greencastle will be giving away 250 long-stem roses to anyone wanting to place them on the grave of a veteran.

If they don't have a deceased family member who is a veteran, they can still take a free flower and decorate the grave of any veteran to honor them.

Furniture AwareHouse is partnering with the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation, a non-profit organization that started this recognition in 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery.

Furniture AwareHouse will hand out the 250 free roses on a first-come, first-served basis during regular store hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Saturday 10-4, Sunday 1-4 and on Memorial Day from 12-4.
