County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 1:17 a.m. on Friday, William Hayden Leonard, 19, Quincy, was arrested for robbery and possession of paraphernalia.

At 2:36 a.m., Dwayne Arthur Doo-lin, 26, Greencastle, was arrested for robbery and possession of paraphernalia.

At 11:05 a.m., Douglas Ell Deffenbaugh II, 34, Indianapolis, was charged with failure to appear, domestic battery, neglect of a dependent and disorderly conduct.

At 1:45 p.m., James David Flatt, 29, Mooresville, was arrested for violation of work release.

At 7:57 p.m., Prince Quadry Tate, 21, Anderson, was charged with a probation violation.

* At 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, James Robert Casteel Jr., 45, Spencer, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 9:40 p.m., Gale Wayne Riley, 66, Greencastle, was arrested for domestic battery.

At 9:50 p.m., Deborah May Matthews, 58, Greencastle, was charged with violation of home detention.

* At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sondra Green, 29, Poland, was arrested for driving on a suspended license.

* At 5:51 p.m. on Monday, Charles Allen Spiker, 29, Poland, was arrested for failure to appear.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- Lashira Marnaye Adams-Hughes, 22, Albuquerque, N.M., was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Sunday for theft in an incident at the Greencastle Walmart.

Capt. Chris Jones reported that Adams-Hughes allegedly took $219.58 worth of miscellaneous items, placing them into several Walmart bags that she apparently brought with her to the store.

Among the items taken were luggage tags, fabric paint, food products, and craft items that included stencils and iron-on bling.

She was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

-- A pair of arrests resulted from a traffic stop made by Officer Kyle Lee at 10:53 p.m. Friday at Washington and Vine streets.

Nathan Matthew Smith, 32, Roachdale, was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

Marcus Nathaniel Walton, 28, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of a schedule III drug.

Both men were lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, Tracy J. Harnishfeger, 24, North Salem, was northbound on County Road 900 East, just south of County Road 1200 North.

Harnishfeger advised Deputy Ronnie Campbell a deer was standing in the roadway and he tried to miss it, but was unable to and traveled into a ditch, coming to rest after hitting a brick driveway guard.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, Robert F. Bryant, 45, Wichita, Kan., was westbound on Interstate 70, nearing the 36-mile marker when a deer entered the roadway from the south side.

Bryant advised Sgt. Jon Chadd that he could not avoid striking the animal with his 2008 Saturn Vue.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 9:09 a.m., Chris-topher M. Koricki, 30, Plainsboro, N.J., was westbound on Interstate 70, nearing the 41-mile marker following Mark A. Calvert, 29, Indianapolis, when some type of furniture flew out the back of Calvert's 2006 Chevrolet Silverado.

Koricki advised Chadd that the furniture landed in the roadway and he could not avoid striking the object with his 2012 Toyota Camry.

Calvert noted that the item apparently became unsecured and flew out of his vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
