Saturday, May 24, 2014

North Putnam's 13-5 baseball team took a loss to a well-polished Rockville team on Thursday.

Danville was on the schedule but they had a make-up conference game to play so the Cougars got Rockville.

Coy Flynn took the loss, only pitching for a third of an inning. He struggled and Max Haste was brought in. Haste gave up four runs with only three earned. He also carded six strikeouts.

The Cougars were able to get their hits but were unable to score, leaving seven runners on base for the night.

Despite the bad game pitching for Flynn, he was able to record two singles at the plate including an RBI in the fifth inning.

He also recorded a double in the sixth that scored Nolan Ensor.

Shane Beaman also had a nice game, leading off with a double that led to an early score, he also recorded another single in the fourth.

According to Cougar coach Lonnie Lawhorn, North Putnam just too many runners on-base against a good team. This led to the loss.

The final game on the schedule before the sectional is at Fountain Central on Saturday.

It is scheduled for noon but may be moved to an earlier time.
