PCH marks National Hospital Week event

Monday, May 26, 2014

Each year in May Putnam County Hospital (PCH) celebrates National Hospital Week, a celebration of the history, technology and dedicated professionals that make PCH a notable place to receive care.

National Hospital Week is a time to recognize hospital staff and promote the hospital's mission of health and wellness.

National Hospital Week dates back to 1921, when it began at the suggestion of a newspaper editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and good will among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.

The 2014 National Hospital Week was May 11-17.

PCH staff enjoyed a complimentary lunch and dinner on Wednesday, May 14 as a thank you from hospital administration.

"Putnam County Hospital is proud of the great strides and gains in patient satisfaction, patient safety and quality," a spokesman said. "The continued growth in services and outreach would not be possible without the talented, hardworking family at Putnam County Hospital."
