Saturday, May 31, 2014

Dana (Ferguson) Haggenjos '03, DePauw assistant women's basketball coach, is moving on to Franklin College where she will be the Grizzlies' head women's basketball coach.

That announcement was made this morning and is available here.

Haggenjos has served as an assistant at her alma for 10 seasons since graduating and also was an assistant for one season (2006-07) at Nova Southeastern University.

The 2006 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Graduate Assistant of the Year has assisted Kris Huffman on 10 DePauw teams that have combined for a 270-34 record, won eight conference titles and earned a spot in the NCAA Division III postseason each year including a national championship in 2013 and three other quarterfinal appearances where she coached Alex Gasaway.

As a player at DePauw, Haggenjos was part of teams that posted an 87-20 record including a third-place Division III finish in 2002.

She was a first team Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection as a senior and runner-up in the SCAC Player of the Year voting.

"We are thrilled for Dana as she starts her head coaching career, but we will certainly miss her," DePauw Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports Stevie Baker-Watson said.

"She's played a big role in the establishment of our women's basketball program as one of the best in the nation."
