Disabled vehicle check on I-70 reveals stolen truck

CLOVERDALE -- A routine police check on a disabled vehicle ended Tuesday night with Indiana State Police arresting a Clinton County man for auto theft and three other charges.

At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, State Police Trooper Yan Dravigne and Probationary Trooper James Crisp stopped to check on a disabled motorist near the 40-mile marker of westbound Interstate 70, a mile west of Cloverdale.

As the troopers conversed with the male driver, Glynn Ray Taylor, 62, Frankfort, they noticed many inconsistencies in his story as how he obtained the vehicle, as well as noting that Taylor appeared very nervous.

A routine computer check revealed the red 1994 Ford truck was reported stolen from Frankfort. Taylor was reportedly en route to the state of Kentucky when he encountered mechanical problems.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Taylor is facing charges of auto theft and receiving stolen property, both Class D felonies; unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle while never licensed, both Class A misdemeanors.
