DePauw womens' basketball finishes 24th in Final Directors' Cup standings

Paced by top-10 finishes at four NCAA Championships including the women's basketball team's advancement to the national quarterfinals and the women's golf team's eighth-place showing, DePauw finished 24th in the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division III Final Standings.

The Directors' Cup was first awarded in Division III in 1995-96 and honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program and achieving success in both men's and women's sports.

Totaling 483.5 points, DePauw recorded its 13th top-50 finish in the 19-year history of the program and its 10th straight.

The Tigers' 24th-place showing is their sixth in the top 25 and also marked the 19th time in as many years that DePauw ranked ahead of all other Indiana Division III institutions.

DePauw also finished ahead of all other North Coast Athletic Conference institutions for the third time in as many years. This also is the school's best finish since an 18th-place showing in 2007-08.

The women's basketball team led the way with its sixth appearance in the national quarterfinals, while the women's golf squad earned a trip to the NCAA Championships for the 13th straight year and finished eighth.

DePauw's women's tennis and field hockey teams each competed in the round of 16 to finish in a tie for ninth.

The tennis team's appearance in the national tournament was its 10th straight and 13th overall.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs finished 15th at the Division III Championships. For the men, it marked their sixth top-20 finish in the last seven years.

Making its second NCAA appearance in three years, the Tigers' baseball team finished third at the regional to tie for 17th, nationally.

The volleyball team earned an at-large bid to the November tournament for the program's first postseason trip since 2000, while the softball squad appeared in its sixth postseason since 2007.

Individually, Marcus Dozier picked up a sixth-place showing in the discus throw at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Williams College (Mass.) topped the Directors' Cup rankings with 1,225.25 points for its 17th title, while Wisconsin-Whitewater was second with 1134.75. Johns Hopkins finished third with 977.5 and Washington-St. Louis was fourth with 924.25.
