Celebrity Bowling Bash to help FCA

Thursday, June 5, 2014

It's a two-fold mission that will be accomplished with the 2014 Celebrity Bowling Bash from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the A n' J Bowl, 1250 S. Jackson St., Greencastle. As celebrities join bowlers, Central Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes will benefit from the proceeds, while A n' J owners Garry and Valerie Waters will acheive their goal of using the bowling alley to give back to the community.

Having lost their son, Army PFC James A. Waters, who died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit while serving in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, on July 1 2011, the Waters wanted to make sure they honored his sacrifice by making the bowling alley a tribute, and using it to benefit others.

Among the celebrities attending will be former Indianapolis Colts player and Super Bowl champion John Standeford, Indianapolis Colts player Delano Howell, former Indianapolis Colts player Gijon Robinson, DeafOlympics World Record holder Josh Hembrough, and Christian Rap Artist Blake Whiteley.

Anyone wishing to form a team may still do so by contacting Brad Long at blong@fca.org or calling (317) 502-4555. Teams are asked to raise financial support that will help FCA promote its programs in schools, colleges and with professional athletes throughout Indiana.

Those programs teach integrity, service to others, teamwork and excellence, while serving the mission of presenting athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, with the challenge and adventure of serving Jesus Christ.
