Thelma M. Sloan, 100, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Good Samaritan Nursing home in Jasonville.

She was born Dec. 24, 1913 to Edward and Anna Mary (Caudwell) Vaughn in Midland, Ind.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Bob) Mowery, and sister, Gale Klein of South Bend; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren and three stepchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Fayne Cummings and Earl Sloan, a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Harry Custis, and grandson Douglas Custis.

Thelma and Earl worked at the Senior Citizens Center as volunteers in Greencastle. They played in the Kitchen Band and loved dressing up for different holidays.

Thelma was a housemother at Lambda Chi Fraternity at DePauw University for three years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10 until time of services.
