Letting their imaginations run wild, Putnam County youngsters got up close and personal with heavy equipment and safety vehicles during the second annual Touch a Truck fundraiser to benefit the Putnam County Public Library "Imagination Library" program Saturday at Greencastle High School. While fire trucks, like the GFD unit above, are always big draws with their sirens and bright red coloring, youngsters also flocked to other rigs. Makayla Ricketts (top right), eight-year-old daughter of Mike and Lauren Ricketts, Greencastle, checks out the comfort of a Walmart semi's sleeper cab, while (bottom right) Kash Monnett, 3, of Cloverdale, finds the hub of a Co-Alliance rig's wheel a great spot to hang out. Meanwhile, Debra Robinson of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department puts a "junior sheriff" badge sticker on Sam Welch, three-year-old son of Amy and Jonathan Welch, Greencastle. A gallery with more photos from the event is available at bannergraphic.com.
