Mary Ellen Bunn

Mary Ellen Bunn, 86, North Salem, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014.

She was born in New Maysville on Jan. 11, 1928, the daughter of Joseph Bowman and Edna Higgins Rooker.

She married Frank Bunn Sr., and he preceded her on Jan. 17, 2012.

As a kindergarten teacher, she began teaching in 1968 and then founded the Coatesville Christian Preschool. The New Winchester Christian Church invited Mary Ellen to hold classes there in 1987, and she continued until her retirement after 25 years. She touched the lives of nearly 700 children during that time.

She was a devoted wife, helping her husband in his church work, on the farm, and any other area where she could be of help.

She was a member of the New Maysville Community Church.

She is survived by daughters Debra Bunn, New Hampshire, and Beth Bunn, Bainbridge; daughter-in-law Donna Bunn, North Salem; grandchildren Ben Bunn, Michael Joe Bunn, Michael Andrew Rogers and wife Wendy and their children, Hailey and Hunter, and Ginger Claycomb and husband, Larry, and their children, Tristan and Bethany; stepgrandson Craige Phipps and family; and brothers Robert Rooker, Bainbridge, and J.B. Rooker, North Salem.

She was preceded by her parents, husband, son Frank Bunn Jr. and a granddaughter, Miya Jo Bunn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the New Maysville Community Church with Pastor Larry Edwards officiating.

Burial will follow in New Maysville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday one hour preceding the service.
