County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

*At 9 a.m., Brian Steven Doane, 32, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated with a prior, poessession of a controlled substance and bond revocation.

At 3:57 p.m., Michael Coy Oldham, 24, Clover-dale, was arrested on a probation violation.

At 10:20 p.m., James Eugene Stevens, 36, Greencastle, was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and criminal trespassing.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 12:26 p.m. on Wednesday, Lisa L. Hudson, 19, Freedom, was northbound on County Road 275 East, driving a 2004 Dodge Ram.

Hudson advised Reserve Officer Dave Allison that she fell asleep and woke up when she hit a power pole.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 9:25 a.m. on Thursday, Michael L. Ellington, 41, Indianapolis, was heading southeast in a left turn at County Road 125 West and County Road 450 South.

Ellington told Deputy Ronnie Campbell that he had to get into the other lane to make the corner and slightly hit William M. Jones, 74, Poland, in the front driver's side of Jones' 2003 Ford Expedition with his 1999 PRV bus.

City Police

Five recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 7:35 a.m. Thursday, Edward E. Gibson, 61, Ridgeway, Ohio, was ticketed by Capt. Mike Hanlon for disregarding a stopsign at State Road 240 and Percy Julian Drive.

-- At 10:24 p.m. Monday, Adam Pickens, 26, Brazil, was ticketed for speeding on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street, by Officer Nick Eastham. Pickens was cited for 57 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- 12:20 p.m. Monday, Krystal McFadden, 27, Fillmore, was stopped by Officer Albert Epple on Avenue B and ticketed for having no license plate.

-- At 10:15 a.m. June 14, Hector Carrillo, 32, Cloverdale, was cited at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue B by Sgt. Charles Inman for driving with a suspended license.

-- At 7:01 p.m. June 13, Lindsey York, 20, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Kyle Lee in the parking lot in front of GPD headquarters on North Jackson Street for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

City Fire

* At 9:49 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, GFD was dispatched to an unauthorized burn at 914 S. Locust St.

* At 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, GFD responded to a detector activation at 100 E. Seminary St. but no fire was found. GFD reset the alarm and noted the alarms were set to be cleaned to prevent future incidents.

* At 2:09 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, GFD were called to the intersection of Anderson and Bloomington streets to do fluid clean-up from a motor vehicle accident.

* At 11:06 a.m. on Friday, June 20, GFD responded to a possible school bus fire in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Upon arrival it was determined that a rag left on the exhaust system had caught fire and fell to the ground after igniting. The fire had been extinguished before GFD arrived.
