Monday, June 30, 2014

The ninth annual Dog Costume and Fashion Contest is set for Friday, July 4 as part of the Fourth of July activities at Robe-Ann Park.

Helping Pawz Animal Rescue of Putnam County is the organizer of this year's Dog Costume and Fashion Show event.

Two categories of canine competition this year are Costume Dog and Costume Dog with Costume Human(s).

Registration forms for the Dog Costume and Fashion Contest can be found at City Hall, Greencastle, 1 N. Locust St., or on the city's website at cityofgreencastle.com.

The cost to register for this event is $10.

All proceeds will benefit Helping Pawz Animal Rescue of Putnam County.

Helping Pawz Animal Rescue of Putnam County became registered and recognized by the state of Indiana in March 2012.

Helping Pawz is not an animal shelter facility, but an animal rescue organization that uses private foster homes and trained volunteers to entrust in the care of surrendered or stray animals while they wait for adoption into a forever home.

Operating solely through donations, Helping Pawz has rescued more than 300 animals in Putnam County alone. Currently, 70 animals are with private foster families, awaiting adoption.

Animals under the care of Helping Pawz are spayed or neutered and fully vetted before they are adopted to a new family.

You do not have to enter a dog to enjoy the Dog Costume and Fashion Contest. Spectators will meet some of the loving canines that are looking for their forever home and are ready to be adopted.
