Rich's TV offers high-speed Internet with Exede service

Residents of Putnam, Parke and Clay counties and adjacent areas all have access to Exede by ViaSat, a high-speed satellite Internet service earning awards and recognition nationwide. The 12 Mbps baseline download speed offered by Exede Internet is eight times faster than previous generation satellite services, and often significantly faster than average DSL service.

Powered by ViaSat-1 -- the world's highest capacity communications satellite -- Exede Internet has moved into the mainstream of Internet options. The service is available in areas covering more than 80 percent of the U.S. population, including virtually all areas east of the Mississippi River.

"Exede service has solved the frustrations of slow Internet, especially for residents and businesses in rural areas," said Bob Rich, owner of Rich's TV, the area Radio Shack dealer. "As a local business serving this community for many years, I can tell you that Exede Internet is a major step forward from previous generations of satellite service."

Exede service is particularly welcome to those outside of metropolitan areas, where cable service may be limited or non-existent. While many state and local governments are exploring ways to expand high-speed Internet in rural areas, the Exede service is available today. No additional infrastructure build-out is needed, as Exede comes directly to a subscriber's home via satellite.

Independent studies validate this progress. A 2013 FCC study based on performance tests showed Exede Internet outperformed all other ISPs in delivering advertised speeds to subscribers, with 90 percent of Exede subscribers receiving 140 percent or better of the advertised 12 Mbps download speed during peak periods.

Subscribers also have expanded service options and a variety of plans to meet their needs. Exede Classic plans offer a range of data allowances -- from 10GB to 25GB, depending on the individual subscriber's needs. All plans provide five hours of unmetered usage every day. Also available: bundles that include Exede Voice, the company's cost-effective home telephone service, and satellite television.

Earlier this year, ViaSat introduced Exede Business, a service that provides higher speeds, generous data allowances, 24-7 customer support and priority maintenance for small and medium-sized businesses.

  • Anyone considering Exede should do some research first. The consumer reviews are almost all bad.
