Sheriff's Dept.

* At 11:03 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, Calita J. Cundiff, 80, Greencastle, was slowed in traffic on U.S. 231 near Primrose Lane due to a previous unrelated accident when Lowell E. McCammack, 77, Bainbridge hit her 2004 Chevrolet Classic from behind.

McCammack advised Detective Matt Biggs that he was unable to stop in time and struck Cundiff's vehicle in the rear with his 2001 Hyundai Elantra.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to four medical assists and multiple dispatches this week.

* At 9:26 a.m. Monday, July 7, GFD was called to investigate a gas leak at Hickory Creek at Sunset nursing home at 1109 S. Jackson St., upon investigation the leak was found to be coming from a pilot light that had gone out.

* At 11:02 a.m. Monday, July 7, GFD responded to a motor vehicle fire at 974 N. C.R. 250 E., the2006 Pontiac GT was extinguished and the car was determined to be a total loss, no cause for the fire was established.

* At 11:33 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, GFD was called to 107 Mill Pond lane to investigate an odor of hot wiring. Upon further investigation GFD discovered that the area had been having power surges and that the smell may have been coming from the surges.

* At 8:32 a.m. and 2:13 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, GFD was sent to 503 S. Jackson St. for a fire alarm, no fire was found.

* At 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 402 Anderson St., no fire was found.

* At 6:38 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, GFD was dispatched to 138 W. Berry St. for an unauthorized burn.

* At 3:37 a.m. Friday, July 11, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 2000 S. Jackson St., upon investigation the alarm had been triggered by an individual accidentally hitting the alarm.

* At 10:31 a.m. Friday, July 11, GFD were called to U.S. 231 just north of Greencastle to

provide cleanup at the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
