Yellow Hammer to perform Sunday with Brazil Band

BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Mathew S. Huber, presents "OK! ... Yellow Hammer" on Sunday, July 20 at Forest Park, rain or shine.

The free concert is set to begin at 7 p.m. with Yellow Hammer taking the stage prior to the Brazil Concert Band.

Principal trombonist Dr. Duane Caperton and his bluegrass band, Yellow Hammer, will perform traditional American songs featuring banjo, guitar, upright bass and a host of string instruments along with vocalists.

Caperton, a professor at St. Mary's and minister of the Prairieton United Methodist Church, will exchange trombone for banjo with his ensemble, including Lynn Wallace, Dena Porter, Robert C. Bennett, Doug Duzan and Rick Herrington.

After the performance by Yellow Hammer, the Brazil Concert Band will perform "Oklahoma!" by Richard Rodgers, Mitch Leigh's "Man Of La Mancha," Apotheosis" by S. Nestico and "Angel Eyes" by M. Dennis.

The band will also perform, "Gallop From Genevieve De Brabant" arranged by John Bourgeois, Henry Fillmore's "Lassus Trombone," "Bombasto" by O. Farrar and "The Dauntless Battalion" by J.P. Sousa.
