A black quilt with star pattern blocks in the background, made from the quilt blocks entered in last year's quilt block contest, will be raffled off at this year's Putnam County Fair.

Jean Beilby assembled and quilted it for raffling at this year's fair.

Proceeds from the raffle will be split between the Adult Open Class Exhibit Hall and the club who sponsored the black contest last year, One Stitch at a Time Quilt Extension Club.

Tickets for raffle are $1 each or are six for $5.

The drawing for the winner will take place Friday, July 25 during the Adult Open Class awards program which will begin at 7 p.m. in the York Automotive Family Exhibit Hall, east side.

The quilt club is also sponsoring a "People's Choice" Quilt contest this year and has ballots available, one per person. Fair-goers are encouraged to vote for their favorite quilt in the entire building.

The "People's Choice" award also will be presented during the Awards Program on Friday night.

The winning quilter will be presented with a $20 cash award in honor of Liz Taylor, an avid quilter who passed away this last year.

Prize money given by the One Stitch at a Time Quilt Extension Club.
