County Jail

*At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Allen Lee Braughton, 34, Panama City, Fla., was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 4:35 p.m., Donald Eugene Majors, 60, Terre Haute, was charged with failure to appear and nonsupport of a dependent.

At 7:50 p.m., Alicia Leah Sexton, 20, Greencastle, was arrested for theft.

* At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jacob Ed- ward Montgomery, 18, Fillmore, was arrested for theft and burglary.

* At 12:42 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, Wesley A. Reagin, 50, Terre Haute, was traveling southbound on State Road 243 in a 1987 International truck.

Reagin advised Cpl. Josh Boller that when he approached a left corner, he though his load of rock shifted in the trailer. On scene were skid marks entering the corner and into the ditch.

Damage was estimated at $25,000-$50,000.

* At 8:02 p.m. on Friday, Payton R. Dorsett, 16, Cloverdale, was traveling in the middle of the road eastbound on County Road 1200 South at approximately 55 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone, when she came upon another vehicle traveling westbound.

Dorsett advised Deputy Phillip Troyer that she swerved her 2006 Pontiac Vibe to get into her lane, nearly going off the road on the south side. She then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle causing it to go into the ditch on the north side and overturn several times.

Dorsett sustained a lump under her left eye, while the passenger Brittany Booher, complained of right shoulder pain. An ambulance was called and both signed a waiver and were released.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sheriff's Dept. reserve officer David H. Allison, 55, Martinsville, was traevling on U.S. 231 near County Road 350 South, responding to an emergent domestic battery that was reported.

Allison advised Sgt. Gregg Slover that as he slowed to negoitate a curve on the 4000 block of South U.S. 231 (Plessingers' Hill) the rear of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe lost traction with the wet roadway, causing the vehicle to rotate counterclockwise.

Allison added that he attempted to gain control of the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. Upon impact with the ditch, both side curtain airbags were deployed.

Slover noted that Allison and his passenger Carl Salzman were not injured and there was no damage to the vehicle except the airbag deployment.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

*At 9:52 a.m. on Sunday, Susan Holt, 56, Greencastle, was stopped westbound on U.S. 36 attempting to turn left on County Road 600 West.

Holt advised Lt. Virgil Lanning she observed Alejandro Canales, 18, Indianapolis, approaching in a 2010 GM Sierra not slowing down.

Holt then stated that Canales struck the rear of her 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. However, caused no damage. Canales stated he did not observe Holt stopped to turn and struck the rear of her vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:03 a.m. on Tuesday, Cody McNew, 38, Greencastle, was westbound on State Road 240 at approximately 3659 East.

Sgt. Craig Sibbitt noted that it appeared McNew left the roadway on the north side of State Road 240 and traveled approximately 90 feet, hitting a reflector sign before colliding with a power pole.

McNew continued west through a yard, colliding with a vehicle and then coming to final rest against a second vehicle.

Damage to the two vehicles in the driveway at the residence of David E. Shafer was very minor and was unknown if the damage was fresh or was there prior to the incident.

McNew at first stated that he was a passenger in the 1998 Ford Taurus and that the driver had fled from the crash site. However, Sibbitt was able to speak to a witness who had noticed that no one had been sitting in the passenger seat and aknowledged that McNew was the driver.

Sibbitt then advised McNew of the information gathered and McNew admitted that he was the driver stating that he was very tired and had fallen asleep prior to the crash.

McNew also stated he was on probation and had a suspended license and was afraid to tell the truth and did not want to go back to jail.

Sibbitt issued McNew a summons for opearting with a suspended license with a prior.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

*At 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Terri Freed, 62, Rockville, advised Lanning she was eastbound on U.S. 36 just east of County Road 500 West.

Freed stated that a deer entered the roadway and she was unable to avoid striking it with her 2003 Pontiac Montana.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

At 10:02 a.m. Pamela Daugherty, 68, Danville, was northbound on U.S. 231 turning left onto Hospital Drive.

Daugherty advised Lanning that she observed Betty Veach, 83, Greencastle, waiting to turn north onto U.S. 231. As Daugherty started her turn, Veach pulled out and struck the right rear bumper area of her 2012 Honda UEX.

Veach advised she was waiting to turn north onto U.S. 231 from Hospital Drive and did not see Daugherty turning and pulled out and hit her with her 2006 Ford Taurus.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
