GHS grad Janelle Huber to direct Brazil Band Sunday
BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band will present "The North Dakota Connection" under the direction of guest conductor Janelle R. Huber on Sunday, Aug. 3, beginning at 8 p.m.
The free concert in the Forest Park bandshell at Brazil will go on rain or shine.
Huber, an Indiana State University School of Music graduate, is band director at Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D. She is also a member of the Grand Forks City Band and Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra.
During her years in the Wabash Valley, Huber, a Greencastle High School graduate, was a member of the Brazil Concert Band, Jackson Township Community Band and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.
While at ISU, Huber was the piccolo soloist in the ISU Wind Orchestra, student conductor of the ISU Symphony Orchestra and A Hines Memorial Medal Winner.
The concert will include "The Screamer" by Jewell, "Show Boat" arranged by Bennett, "The Walking Frog" by King, "Basque Rhapsody" by Shelton and "With Pleasure" by Sousa.
Also, "A Mozart Festival" by Johnson, "March of The Women Marines" by Saverino, "God Bless The U.S.A." arranged by Holmes, " A Symphony of Sitcoms" arranged by Jennings, "Rough-Riders" by King and "The Star-Spangled Banner" arranged by Sousa.
