Sunday, August 3, 2014

The fifth annual Children's Miracle Network Car Show is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

Admission is free to the public.

More than 175 cars and trucks are expected to compete in 11 major categories with awards going to the top 45 entries.

The local show has continued to grow annually with 35 entries the first year in 2010, followed by 65 vehicles in 2011 with 115 in 2012 and more than 150 last year, "making it one of the largest shows in the Indy west area," Car Show Committee spokesman John Vosevich said.

This year's goal is to raise $10,000 for Riley Hospital, topping last year's $8,800.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. with judging at 11 a.m and awards at 2 p.m. The registration fee is $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show.

The first 100 entries will receive a dash plaque and door prize.

Concessions, music, vendors and free face painting and games for the younger children are also scheduled Saturday.

The event is sponsored by the associates of the Greencastle Walmart

Distribution Center.
