Driver arrested for transporting synthetic drugs

Indiana State Police seized approximately 100 grams of synthetic drugs from a Texas man during a traffic stop on Interstate 70.

A Texas man was arrested on Interstate 70 in Putnam County Friday for possessing synthetic drugs.

At 1:46 p.m., Indiana State Trooper Yan Dravigne stopped a 1991 Dodge pickup for a lane change violation on eastbound I-70 near the 37-mile marker.

While conversing with the driver, Trooper Dravigne noticed indicators of possible criminal activity.

During a search of the vehicle, 10 packets (approximately 100 grams) of synthetic drugs were found under the passenger side seat.

Michael Gotcher, 53, Dickinson, Texas, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for possession of synthetic drugs, a Class A misdemeanor.

He is being held in the Putnam County Jail with no bond.

Gotcher was en route from Texas to the Indianapolis area.
