Norma Jean Bruner, 81, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.

Born March 27, 1933 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Louis Elwood and Mary Eunice (Sutherlin) Nelson.

She was a 1952 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She married Robert L. Bruner on July 14, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2012.

Jean was a homemaker and had worked at the Delta Gamma Sorority for 21 years and the Sigma Chi Fraternity for 13 years as a housekeeper.

She had also worked at Home Laundry and Cleaners and was a cook for the Greencastle School Corporation.

Jean also did babysitting in her home for many years.

Jean was an excellent cook and baker, winning many champion awards at the State Fair with her cookies, pies and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing.

She had recently attended the Hanna Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, David Wayne (Terry) Bruner and Dale Alan Bruner; daughter Janet Lynn (Keith) Hutcheson; grandchildren Jared Keith (Amanda) Hutcheson, Brock Morgan (Tracy) Bruner, Jill Susanne Hutcheson and Brier Maegan (Mike) Bruner Irk; brother,Pete Nelson; sister-in-law Marcia Nelson and sister Charlene (Jack) Clifford; great-grandchildren Garrett Keith Hutcheson, Hadleigh Michaela Hutcheson, Caroline Mae Bruner and Kathleen Morgan Bruner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, LeRoy Nelson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 until time of service at the funeral home.
