Arts & Crafts show at Apostrophe' for Sept. 5 First Friday

Thursday, September 4, 2014

The Apostrophe' Art Space will feature a show by DePauw University art professor Cynthia O'Dell, her husband, local potter Scott Cooper, and their daughter, Maggie Pixel.

Titled "Arts & Crafts," the show will feature photography, pottery and paintings. Most of the work on display will be for sale. It's the first time the family members have shown their artwork together.

The pop-up show is set for 3-9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Apostrophe' art space, 25 W. Franklin St.

O'Dell has taught at DePauw since 1998 and exhibits her work nationally and internationally. She works with issues of land, memory and family in a variety of media, including photography, video and installation.

Cooper has been making hand-crafted, functional pottery for more than 20 years.

His work, under the name St. Earth Pottery, has been featured in major ceramics exhibits and national magazines. His pots are used daily in homes and kitchens around the world.

Their daughter Maggie will turn six next month. She has been painting since she could hold a brush.
