Bridge project to close U.S. 231 near Crawfordsville

CRAWFORDSVILLE -- Putnam County drivers are urged to take note that U.S. 231 south of Crawfordsville will close on or after Monday, Sept. 8 for a new bridge project.

The U.S. 231 bridge will be replaced over a branch of Offield Creek located between Montgomery County Roads 300 and 400 South, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced.

The roadway is scheduled to reopen by Oct. 23.

Jack Isom Construction Co. Inc. was awarded the $956,880 contract.

The prescribed detour follows U.S. 231 north to State Road 234, west to State Road 47 North and then back to U.S. 231. Traffic traveling in the opposite direction will use the same detour in reverse.
