County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 4:15 p.m., April Renee Swenson, 31, Cloverdale, was arrested for contempt of court.

At 4:15 p.m., William Edwin Swenson, 49, Cloverdale, was charged with contempt of court.

At 4:30 p.m., Alexa Rae Marshall, 28, Terre Haute, was arrested with failure to appear.

At 4:58 p.m., George Jonathan Neill, 34, Stinesville, was charged with a probation violation.

At 8:15 p.m., Tracy Diane Huber, 55, Greencastle, was arrested for residential entry and criminal trespassing.

At 9:53 p.m., Jerry Wayne Rubeck, 58, Poland, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

City Police

Four recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- A minor mishap was reported at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday on East Washington Street near North Indiana as Ruth Thanh Vo, 21, Desoto, Texas, was eastbound on Washington and her 2001 Acura drifted to the right, striking a parked 2009 Saturn, owned by David Weszely, Graysville, Ind.

Sgt. Charles Inman estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 10:20 p.m. Monday, another minor mishap involved a parked car on Taylor Place, just east of East Walnut Street, Officer Kyle Lee reported.

Jack Eberhardt, 27, Greensburg, was eastbound on Walnut Street, driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla, when he reportedly struck a parked car as he attempted to turn onto Taylor Place.

Eberhardt said his car slid on wet pavement, striking a parked 1998 Buick LeSabre, owned by Charles Carpenter, Greencastle.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 4:18 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Veterans Memorial Highway near Bloomington Street.

Officer Darrel Bunten said Darren Osborne, 30, Greencastle, was eastbound on Veterans Highway when he saw the vehicle in front of him stop for the light.

As Osborne tried to brake, his 1998 Dodge Ram instead slid on the wet pavement, running into the rear of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Wade Terry, 24, Greencastle.

Officer Bunten listed total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 4:21 p.m. Sept. 14, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Washington Street near Durham Street as two vehicles were being backed simultaneously from driveways on opposite sides of the street.

Officer Jeff Modlin reported that a 2011 Toyota driven by Theodore Perales, 70, Greencastle, and a 2011 Toyota driven by John Hecko, 46, Greencastle, struck one another in the middle of Washington Street, resulting in an estimated $2,500-$5,000 damage.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, Shalisa R. Shoemaker, 39, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 near Brick Chapel when she encountered a northbound pickup truck driving left of center and into her lane.

Shoemaker advised Lt. Dwight Simmons that she swerved her 1997 Chevrolet SUV to the right before overcorrecting, sending her vehicle into a slide. The vehicle then left the southbound side of the roadway and traveled down an embankment where it rolled onto its side, coming to rest in a bean field.

Shoemaker sustained only minor lacerations and complained of arm pain, but refused medical transport.

Assisting at the scene was Bainbridge Volunteer Fire Department and Operation Life.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
