County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Friday.

*At 1:03 a.m., Sondra Green, 30, Poland, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

At 9:30 a.m., Joseph Wayne Taylor, 35, Cloverdale, was arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of paraphernalia.

At 9:50 a.m., Carey David Hammond, 39, Clayton, was charged with a probation violation.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

Officer Kyle Lee made a traffic stop at Jackson and Frazier streets on the city's north side at 2:50 a.m. Friday that resulted in the arrest of Larry Christopher Williamson, 32, Fillmore.

Williamson, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, was arrested on an outstanding Putnam County warrant for possession of paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, one recent accident was reported by city officers.

* At 10:40 p.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred on Washington Street near College Avenue, just east of downtown.

Debbie Stultz, 59, Greencastle, was westbound on Washington Street, Officer Lee reported, and slowed to turn right onto College Avenue.

Her 2011 Ford Edge drifted over as she turned, striking a 2007 Toyota Yaris, driven by Jerry Headd, 45, Greencastle.

Headd was stopped northbound on College Avenue when Stultz turned into him, police said.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

Sheriff's Dept.

One recent accident was investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Brittany J. Steele, 23, Crawfordsville, was northbound on U.S. 231, just north of County Road 500 North.

She told Lt. Donnie Pettit that she came upon a van driven by John O. Danberry, 85, Greencastle, who was attempting to turn right into a driveway at 5271 N. U.S. 231.

As Steele tried to slow her 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, the brakes locked up and she was unable to steer, and thus could not avoid rear-ending Danberry's 2005 Chrysler Town and Country.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department have performed two lift assists and multiple dispatches recently.

* At 6:31 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, GFD was dispatched to the intersection of Shadowlawn Avenue and Dogwood Lane to perform clean-up from a motor vehicle accident in which no injuries were reported.

* At 2:56 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, GFD was called to 1 Taylor Place for a fire alarm though no fire was found upon arrival.

* At 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, GFD performed an odor investigation at 910 E. Washington St. The odor was paint related.

* At 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, GFD was called to a fire alarm due to cooking at 303 S. Locust St.

* At 4:11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, GFD was called to 510 S. Maple St. for a downed power line but, upon arrival, the line in the road was a cable TV line and did not pose an electrical threat. GFD contacted the cable provider.

* At 1:51 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident cleanup at 315 Fawn View Lane.

* At 3:24 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, GFD performed an animal rescue when a cat found itself stuck in a tree at 679 N. U.S. 231.

* At 4:24 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, GFD was called to a fire alarm at 109 W. Hanna St., no cause for the alarm was found.

* At 5:36 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, GFD returned to 109 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm that was due to cooking.

* At 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, GFD was dispatched to a smoke investigation on the east end of Martinsville Street but were unable to locate the smoke.

* At 2:04 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, GFD was called to 313 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm that had been triggered by a vaporizer/humidifier.
