It was Senior Night against Terre Haute for the Tiger Cub soccer team and though the home team lost 3-1, Greencastle knew that this would be a tough match and would use it as a precursor to the tough teams that will be seen next week in the sectional.

"With us having Cascade next Wednesday we are looking to have a little bit of fun and a little bit of redemption," Tiger Cub coach Cody Watson said. "They beat us earlier 3-1 and we're really looking to change that. We've grown as a team and have bonded as a team. We're really starting to click on all cylinders."

The Tiger Cubs lost to Cascade on Sept. 13 and have since posted a 4-1-1. This includes a 9-0 win over Owen Valley and the Purple Pride are really eager to show how much they have improved since Cascade.

"We used this game to direct the post-season," Brayden Watson said. "We're using this game to judge how well we were going to do. We are planning on working together and we're going to get through sectionals. Tonight was a great game even though we lost we saw some great action."

The team knows it has the players to gain big wins and the players wanted to finish strong for the senior leaders.

"They were really just playing for the seniors tonight," Cameron Hinton said. "We had a big long talk about it and they all wanted to pour their hearts into the game for the seniors. That's exactly what they did."

A senior who really stepped up in the final game of the season was goalkeeper Alex Briones who finished with 11 saves on the night. He was instrumental in keeping the Cubs in the last game.

"This has by far been one of my favorite years playing," Briones said. "Being a senior I'm glad I get the opportunity to lead a team and to actually be a big part of the team. It feels good to know I'm needed it's been great."

Greencastle has had its ups and downs but what remains a constant is the enthusiasm that the players bring to the soccer field.

"It was a lot of fun," Mitchell Johnson said. "I didn't think I was going to play but I ended up playing and I'm so glad I did it was so much fun."

Another Tiger Cub senior who enjoys the game said there are several aspects of playing the sport that allow him to compete at a high level.

"Playing soccer is a great way to get out on the field and lead a great group of guys," Eli Secrest said. "We can have some fun, be physical and win some games."

Levi Lewis said he has been a cross country runner and decided to use his athleticism in a different way and he is glad he did.

"This season has been great," Lewis said, " All my life I've ran cross country. I decided to change it up for senior year. I have a lot of friends on this team and it has been way better than I expected. I've never been more satisfied after a game than tonight. It was awesome."

Watson, who has gotten to know the players well over the years

"These guys have a special place in my heart," Watson said. "I really have seen them grow up coaching them all four years and some of them longer than that. I really appreciate everything that they have given to the program. I really hope they can do well in their future endeavors. The effort tonight was clearly for the seniors and everybody knows how much they mean to this team."
