United We Dine effort under way for United Way

Sunday, October 5, 2014

The United Way of Putnam County officially kicked off its annual fundraising campaign on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the anniversary celebration for Myers' Market.

"We wanted to thank the public for coming out and supporting us at our kickoff," Putnam County United Way Executive Director Jennifer Edwards said. "We had an amazing turnout and loved seeing the families throughout the day take part in the various activities."

Myers Market also helped kick off the United Way's October United We Dine effort by donating $1,000 to the organization.

United We Dine will continue throughout October with area restaurants donating a portion of sales back to the United Way.

"It's not too late for area restaurants to join this effort," Edwards noted, "so contact us today if you would like to join."

Restaurants already scheduled to participate on the following dates are:

Oct. 9 -- Charlie's Beefcake Burgers.

Oct. 13 -- Pizza King.

Oct. 14 -- 2 West Bistro and The Fluttering Duck.

Oct. 15 -- Monical's Pizza.

Oct. 21 -- Moore's Bar and Grill.

Oct. 24 -- Mama Nunz.

Oct. 28 -- Almost Home and The Swizzle Stick.

"Be sure to dine with these restaurants on their United We Dine day to help us in our fundraising efforts," Edwards encouraged. "You can help us 'be the solution.'

"The more we raise," she added, "the more we allocate right here in Putnam County to help meet the needs of our residents."
