County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10 a.m., James Franklin Day Sr., 47, Greenwood, was arrested on a probation violation.

At 2 p.m., Christopher Lee Nunn, 32, was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.

At 3:30 p.m., Shannon Stockhoff, 34, Indianapolis, was arrested on a probation violation.

City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 3:12 p.m. Tuesday, a hit-and-run accident was reported by James Orick, 57, Coatesville, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck when his vehicle was reportedly struck from behind by a white, older-model Ford crew-cab pickup which left the scene.

The driver of the fleeing truck was described by Orick and another witness to the mishap as a white male in his 20s.

Officer Jeff Modlin estimated damage to Orick's vehicle at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 12:26 p.m. Tuesday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on South Arlington Street near East Washington Street.

Donald Smith, 77, Fillmore, was driving a 2003 Ford F-250 truck, stopped in traffic on Arlington Street, waiting for a vehicle to turn off Washington Street when it looked as though the turning vehicle was going to hit his truck.

Smith tried to back up, Sgt. Terry Eastham noted, but backed into a 2001 Toyota Corolla, driven by Christy Wager, 49, Greencastle. Wager was stopped behind the Smith truck.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

One recent citation was written by GPD officers.

* At 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Amy Pridemore, 23, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Matt Huffman at West Franklin and Market streets.

Pridemore was cited for having an expired license plate (April 2014).

Sheriff's Dept.

One recent accident was investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 9:31 p.m. Tuesday, Benjamin D. Weaver, 26, Coatesville, was southbound on County Road 700 South near County Road 675 East.

Weaver advised Deputy Stevie Smith that as he approached the 90-degree turn in the roadway, he ran off the road.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed two lift assists and responded to multiple dispatches recently.

* At 3:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, GFD was called to perform debris and fluid cleanup at a motor vehicle accident at 108 Indianapolis Rd.

* At 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, GFD was called to 405 N. Jackson St. to clean nearly 10 gallons of gasoline that had been spilled.

* At 3:01 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, GFD responded to a fire alarm that had been triggered by burnt popcorn at 208 E. Olive St.
