Herschel Lee Robins

Herschel Lee Robins, 74, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014.

Born April 6, 1940 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Paul E. and Monzella (Stewart) Robins.

He was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and the Sparta Aviation School in Tulsa, Okla.

Herschel married Anna R. (Allred) Robins on May 28, 1965, and she survives.

Herschel worked at ATA for 36 years as an aircraft mechanic and engineer, retiring in 2008.

Before his retirement, he operated Aircraft Structural Repair Corp., which was located at the Greencastle Airport. He had previously worked for various airlines, including Boeing Aircraft in Seattle and Voyager 1000 in Indianapolis.

He was a member of the Greencastle Christian Church and an active member of the Tea Party, Greencastle.

Herschel is survived by his wife, Anna Robins; daughter Sondra (George) Cromwell; son Brian (Cath) Robins; sister Paula Gilkerson; two grandchildren, Jesse Solinski and Angela Cromwell; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Travis Allen Robins; and a granddaughter, Taylor L. Cromwell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Lane, with interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the Greencastle Christian Church Food Pantry or Putnam County Oncology Cancer Center.
