New councilor excited to serve Greencastle

To the Editor:

Hello, Greencastle! My name is Tyler Wade and I am soon to be the new councilor for Greencastle's Fourth Ward. I am a fourth-generation resident of the Fourth Ward -- my great-grandparents operated Monnett's Market in the South End and my grandmother served as clerk-treasurer.

I am purple and gray through and through. I graduated from GHS in 2008, Wabash College in 2012, and Miami University in 2014. I currently work as an admissions counselor at Wabash.

I am beyond excited to represent residents of the city's 4th Ward. While I am a Republican, my chief priority on the Council will be to problem solve. I will work with the mayor and my fellow councilors to find common sense solutions to the issues facing our community.

I plan to host monthly community meetings, eat dinner at local businesses and go door to door to speak with my constituents. In addition, feel free to contact me at tjwade12@gmail.com or via phone at 765-247-9531. I promise to do my best to respond to all concerns within 24 hours.

In addition to listening, I have some ideas of my own. I believe that our city has made great improvements in the last 30 years since IBM left. But we can do even better.

To compliment the important improvements from the Stellar Communities project, I believe we need to focus on improving our schools, attracting large and small business and foster a mutually beneficial relationship with DePauw University.

I will not sit idle so long as Greencastle lacks the advantages held by other small towns in the State of Indiana. I am excited to work together to build a better future for this city!

Tyler J. Wade
