County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:57 a.m. on Tuesday, Kyle Anton Dobbs, 31, Greencastle, was charged with possession of marijuana, residential entry, theft and a probation violation.

At 8:12 p.m., Christopher Bryan Skaggs, 29, Greenwood, was arrested for contempt of court.

* At 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Alex Matthew Gaston, 23, Greencastle, was arrested for battery, resisting law enforcement and a probation violation.

At 3:45 p.m., Guy Houston Parrish, 27, Greencastle, was charged with possession of a syringe.

At 5:40 p.m., William Paul Owens, 37, Crawfordsville, was arrested for failure to appear.

City Police

A pair of minor one-vehicle accidents were investigated recently by Greencastle City Police Officer Ed Wilson.

-- At 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, Brandon Hall, 18, Greencastle, was northbound on Round Barn Road, driving a 2003 Hyundai Accent, when he encountered a slowing or stopped vehicle in the roadway.

When Hall applied his brakes and steered right to avoid a collision, his car slid off the roadway, striking a tree, Wilson reported.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 11:58 p.m. Monday, James Cram, 80, Brazil, was leaving the parking lot behind the Greencastle Post Office, 8 E. Walnut St., when the accelerator on his 1989 Ford F-150 reportedly stuck, causing the vehicle to lurch forward, go over a curb and land on a concrete divider in the recessed parking area below him.

Officer Wilson listed total damage at $2,500-$5,000.

Four recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 5 a.m. Monday, Mandy Marentette, 29, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Matt Huffman at Percy Julian Drive and Avenue C and cited for being an operator never licensed.

-- At 1:49 a.m. Monday, Walter Goodlowe Jr., 53, was stopped on Bloomington Street by Officer Nick Eastham and cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 4 a.m. Oct. 25, Christopher Hollingsworth, 26, Lafayette, was cited by Officer Huffman at Washington and Indiana streets for having no registration plate.

-- At 11:15 p.m. Oct. 21, Cody Robert Southgate, 20, Greencastle, was stopped on Indianapolis Road by Officer Huffman and ticketed for having a false or fictitious registration.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed one medical assist and responded to several dispatches recently.

* At 7:36 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, GFD was called to 1 Taylor Place for an odor investigation that was due to a pilot light on a stove.

* At 8:56 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, GFD responded to a fire alarm that had been reportedly triggered by the use of excessive hair products at 208 E. Olive St.

* At 11:19 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident east of Round Barn Road on Rangeline Road. No injuries were reported and GFD were only required to secure the vehicle for leaks.
