Morning Accident

Friday, October 31, 2014

Investigating for possible leaking fluids, Greencastle Police Officer Ed Wilson looks over a Friday morning crash scene on North Jackson Street. Wilson said the driver, 17-year-old Levi Purdue of Greencastle, was northbound on Jackson Street when he came upon slowed traffic for a funeral procession. Noticing too late, Purdue applied his brakes, which locked up on the wet pavement, causing him to lose control. The 1996 Ford F-150 collided with a small tree in front of the Tom Roach Tax Service office, causing extensive front-end damage. GPD, the Greencastle Fire Department and Operation Life responded to the scene, where Purdue was treated for injuries, including a possible broken nose.
