Veterans' benefits slated to be discussed at Autumn Glen Nov. 13

Sunday, November 2, 2014

On Tuesday, Nov. 13 Carlotta Katra, an accredited agent with the Department of Veterans Affairs, will present information on veterans' benefits to help senior veterans with rising medical expenses at Autumn Glen, 98 N. 10th St. (Round Barn Road), Greencastle.

The public is invited to attend the informational program that will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Katra, founder of Senior Care Advisors, also will be explaining a benefit that is also available to widows to help offset the costs of senior care.

The Aid and Attendance pension is often key in helping pay for care, whether at home or in assisted living. The benefit currently ranges from $1,131 to $2,085 per month, tax free.

Katra will also address some of the pitfalls of applying on your own or using someone who is not accredited, as well as how this benefit works with Medicaid while helping persons preserve assets.

Autumn Glen offers senior living and provides various seminars of interest to seniors.
