Putnam County Hospital, an established rural critical access hospital, has started a new partnership with OPYS Physician Services in Greencastle.

OPYS will provide emergency medicine management and staffing services for the hospital's emergency department.

On Nov. 1, OPYS commenced service for the Emergency Department that cares for approximately 13,000 patients annually.

While the partnership brings new, highly trained team members to the hospital, Dr. Raymond VanVuren will continue as a staff physician, and Drs. Brian Downen and Anthony Heavin will be taking the role as medical directors under the OPYS partnership.

"We're very excited to work with OPYS, an Indiana-based physician staffing and management company, known for its commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care," Dennis Weatherford, CEO of Putnam County Hospital, said.
