DePauw football team to host season's final home game

DePauw returns to Nick Mourouzis Field at Blackstock Stadium for the final home game of the 2014 season when it hosts Hiram College in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest.

The Tigers are 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the NCAC after last Saturday's 42-13 win at Wooster. The Terriers are 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the conference following last week's 41-10 home loss to Wabash.

SCOUTING HIRAM

Hiram opened the season with wins over Westminster (Pa.) and Denison before dropping three straight. The Terriers then topped Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan before last week's loss to Wabash.

Senior quarterback Robert Partridge directs the offense and has completed 53.1 percent of his passes for 1,970 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 127.3 efficiency rating. His top target is Nate Eaton with 36 catches for 427 yards and Jalen Dinard with 31 grabs totaling 425 yards. Britton Lewis has caught 19 for a team-high 449 yards. Josh Philander is next with 17 catches with a team-high four touchdown receptions.

Danny Robinson leads the ground game with 78.8 yards per game and 9.2 yards per carry but has missed the last four games, while David Perkins follows with 45.0 yards per contest and 4.2 yards per attempt. Brandon Carr leads the squad with four rushing touchdowns.

James Romanowski is the team's tackles leader with 78 followed by Kyle Burchett with 63 and D.D. Fleetion with 51. Mario Lemuel leads with 4.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, while Tevin Weaver has picked off a team-high three passes.

DEPAUW UPDATE

The Tigers are coming off a pair of road wins at Allegheny and Wooster and have clinched the program's first winning season since 2010 and have now posted .500 or better seasons in 16 of the last 19 years.

Hamm Hooper's 27-yard interception return for a touchdown on the second play of the game set the tone as the Tigers then scored on four of their first six offensive possessions to take a 35-0 halftime lead.

Amen Galley rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries and scored three times, while Jack Gruber followed with 38 yards in 12 tries as the Tigers totaled 151 yards on the ground. Hunt completed 18 of 25 passes for 174 yards and one score with Jay D. Robinson and Connor Jeffers each catching five.

Wooster rushed for 105 yards on 39 attempts as the Tigers limited Sean Hackel to a season-low 34 yards on 20 carries. Hackel entered the contest as the NCAC leader with 109.2 rushing yards per outing.

Cody Baker led the Tigers with nine tackles, while Will Longthorne followed with eight and Adam Folta seven. Baker, Hooper and Thomas Gray each intercepted a pass, while Craig Neece led with 2.0 tackles for loss.

Hunt has completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 1,449 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions for a 135.21 efficiency rating.

Jake Hagan leads the team with 24 catches for 264 yards, while Jay D. Robinson is next with 23 catches for a team-high 293 yards with three touchdowns. Connor Jeffers has caught 16 and Zachary Alleman 13.

The Tigers are averaging 215.1 rushing yards per game with Galley leading the way with 72.5, followed by Gruber with 41.0 and Hunt with 40.9.

Defensively, Longthorne leads with 68 tackles followed by Folta with 51 and Gray and Baker with 43 apiece. Hooper and Baker lead with three interceptions each, while Folta has picked off a pair.

Marko Adams has successfully booted all 34 extra-point attempts and connected on 10-11 field goal tries, while Paul Simon averages 39.2 yards per punt and has landed 13 of 37 inside the opponent's 20.
