Chamber announces Spirit of Christmas Window contest

Sunday, November 9, 2014

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is again sponsoring the annual Spirit of Christmas Merchant Window Decorating Contest, which means it is time for local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights and ornaments and get creative for the holidays.

The Chamber is now accepting entries for the 2014 Spirit of Christmas Award.

Since 1984, the award has been presented annually to a local business whose holiday decorations have best captured the spirit of Christmas.

The traveling plaque will be presented at First Friday at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 on the Franklin Street side of the Courthouse Square.

Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28.

To be eligible for judging, entries may be made by sending in the entry form with name, address, phone number and directions to the business to the Chamber of Commerce, 16 S. Jackson St., or faxing it to 848-1015.

Entry forms are available at the Chamber office or by calling 654-4517.

Businesses will be judged on the following criteria: Spirit of Christmas, originality, continuity of theme and preparation and effort.

The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area. Businesses need not be Chamber members to participate.

Persons may call Tammy Johnson at the Chamber office (653-4517) with any

questions.
