Jazz at the Duck to feature singer Gail Wynters

Greencastle music fans will have a unique chance to see a jazz singer with an impressive resumé on Thursday at The Fluttering Duck.

Gail Wynters will be performing at Jazz at the Duck at 8:30 p.m. Thursday with a band that features Steve Snyder on piano, Jesse Wittman on bass and Dave Glover on drums.

Wynters' career includes stints performing with some of the most historic names in jazz such as Rufus Reid, John Lewis, Ray Brown, Clark Terry, Shelly Manne, Michael Brecker, Mose Allison, James Moody, Tommy Flanagan, Art Blakey, Hank Jones, Herb Ellis, Joe Lavano and Elvin Jones, to name just a few. Wynters has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award.

Now that she has moved back to her home state of Kentucky she can be found performing throughout the tri-state area.

Snyder, Wittman and Glover have also performed worldwide and received acclaim for their live and recorded work.

Also with this show are free clinics and an open rehearsal for all who are interested.

Wynters will present a vocal clinic and discussion at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Center for The Performing Arts, room 1118. At the same time, Glover will present a percussion clinic in room 1115.

Wittman will present a bass clinic at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the Green Center, room 109.

An open rehearsal with the musicians will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the Green Center, room 1118.
