County Jail

* At 12:37 a.m. on Friday, Drew Michael Evens, 24, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

At 6:30 a.m., Ryan Page Wilson, 38, Cloverdale, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

At 4:20 p.m., Amber Nicole Decker, 29, Greencastle, was charged with bond revocation.

At 8:57 p.m., Anthony Michael Leonard, 19, Greencastle, was arrested on a probation violation.

* At 1 a.m. Saturday, Braden Gale New, 46, Noblesville, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 8:53 p.m., Brian Nathan Curtis, 47, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 11:14 p.m., Brian Anthony Bartley, 34, Greencastle, was charged with a probation violation and nonsupport of a dependent.

City Police

Four recent accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 7:17 p.m. Saturday, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on State Road 240 near Bloomington Street.

Officer Matt Huffman reported that Herschel Sheldon, 53, Greencastle, was westbound, attempting to turn left onto Bloomington Street without a green arrow, when he reportedly turned into the path of a 2003 Toyota Camry, driven by Taramati Ramabhai, 63, Greencastle.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 8:50 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle accident resulted in one driver and two passengers allegedly fleeing the scene.

The collision occurred at College Avenue and Franklin Street as Jason Grimes, 30, Greencastle, was eastbound on Franklin, driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10, when he reportedly failed to stop at the stopsign, pulling into the path of an eastbound 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by John Latta, 18, Greencastle.

Sgt. Charles Inman reported that multiple witnesses saw Grimes and two passengers flee the scene after the crash that resulted in an estimated $5,000-$10,000 damage.

* At 3:15 p.m. Friday, a two-car accident on North Jackson Street near Jacob Street sent three people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Sgt. Terry Eastham reported that Mary Wood, 84, Greencastle, was stopped on Jacob Street, waiting to cross Jackson in a 2013 Buick Verano, when she reportedly pulled into the path of a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Katherine Costin, 19, Greencastle.

Wood and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life with minor injuries. Costin, meanwhile, was taken by a family member to Ortho Indy with a possible wrist injury.

Damage was estimated in excess of $10,000.

* At 3:05 p.m. Friday, the Crown Equipment Co. parking lot on State Road 240 was the scene of a minor mishap.

Jay Sperback, 50, Plainfield, was reportedly attempting to exit the lot northbound in a 2002 Dodge Durango when he collided with a 2011 Chevrolet in front of him, driven by Ross White, 29, Attica.

Officer Albert Epple estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

Sheriff's Dept.

Four recent accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 11:09 p.m. on Friday, Gary B. Haussin Jr., 21, Greencastle, was backing away from railroad tracks on County Road 675 East near Rangeline Road.

Haussin Jr. advised Deputy Tyler Turner he was backing his 2012 Dodge Ram away from the tracks where multiple vehicles were stopped due to a train, and struck Timothy D. Traylor's 1999 Monte Carlo.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

*At 12:36 p.m. on Saturday, Deborah A. Summerlot, 59, Fillmore, was in the Fillmore Country Mart Store parking lot.

She told Sgt. Craig Sibbitt her view was obstructed by a white pickup truck and she did not see the 2001 Ford Taurus of Joseph N. Gast, Cloverdale, parked behind her.

Summerlot noted that while backing up and turning her 2001 Chevrolet Blazer to the right, she struck the Gast car in the driver's side rear-door area.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

At 4:31 p.m., Mark E. Walker, 42, Greencastle, was westbound on West Walnut Street when a deer entered the roadway.

Walker advised Lt. Dwight Simmons that in striking the deer, his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado then impacted a mailbox owned by Marian Abowitz at 1432 W. CR 125 South.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

At 7:43 p.m., Mark A. Braeger, 22, Coatesville, was northbound on County Road 100 East when a deer ran into the roadway.

Braeger told Chief Deputy Tom Helmer that he was unable to avoid a collision, striking the deer with the right front of his 2006 Chevrolet CK 2500.

Damage was listed at less than $1,001.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department performed four medical runs and responded to numerous dispatches recently.

* At 3:18 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, GFD responded to a car accident at 317 N. Jackson St. to assist Operation Life with patient removal and to provide debris clean-up.

* At 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, GFD was called to 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm due to cooking.

* At 11:17 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. triggered due to smoking on the second floor of the building.

* At 5:53 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, GFD was dispatched to 415 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm due to cooking.

* At 5:55 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 313 E. Hanna St. triggered due to a malfunction.
