County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 1 a.m., Richard Edward Workman, 29, Greencastle, was arrested for criminal mischief.

At 11 a.m., Chadwick John Mullins, 36, Greenwood, was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.

At 2:30 p.m., Christopher Robert Weeks, 35, Putnamville, was arrested for theft.

City Police

A 23-year-old Cloverdale man was cited for leaving the scene of an accident Thursday evening after his car reportedly caused damage to three parked vehicles in downtown Greencastle.

City Police reports indicate Michael Noe was westbound on Washington Street at 7:24 p.m. when his 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix reportedly went up on the curb just west of Jackson Street, striking a parked and unoccupied 1997 Ford Ranger, owned by David Caine Gardner, Greencastle.

A witness told Officer Nick Eastham that Noe was driving at a high rate of speed when his car jumped the curb, striking the back of the Gardner truck, shoving it forward two parking spaces and into the rear of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Susan Hein. Impact pushed the Hein car into a parked 2007 Toyota Prius, owned by John Clodfelter, Greencastle, police said.

Noe reportedly left the scene of the accident, telling authorities he panicked and drove to the fairgrounds where he reportedly called his mother and then notified Central Dispatch.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

Noe was cited for driving with a suspended license in addition to leaving the scene of the accident.

-- At 10:57 a.m. Monday, a two-car mishap was reported on East Washington Street near Arlington Street as Kenneth Torr, 79, Greencastle, was stopped in westbound traffic, waiting for a vehicle in front of him to turn left.

Also westbound was Trevor Ehmen, 24, Greencastle, who told Officer Ed Wilson he didn't realize the Torr car, a 2014 Lexus, was stopped until it was too late to stop his 2001 Pontiac Aztec.

Total damage in the collision was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Ehmen was ticketed for having an expired license plate.

Four additional traffic citations were issued recently by city officers.

-- At 11:52 p.m. Tuesday, Kyle Reid, 17, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eric Vaughan for 65 mph in a 30-mph zone on Fillmore Road.

-- At 10:59 p.m. Tuesday, Robert St. John, 18, Cloverdale, was cited by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel for 59 mph in a 40-mph zone on Veterans Memorial Highway.

-- At 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, David Murphy, 27, Cloverdale, was cited by Officer Kyle Lee at Indianapolis Road and Judson Drive for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 10 p.m. Nov. 6, Erica Hoagland, 17, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Chris Jones for disregarding a stopsign at Edgelea Drive and U.S. 231 North.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jessica R. Whitmer, 29, Knightsville, was traveling westbound on U.S. 40 in the right lane, when for unknown reason she began heading left.

Deputy Adam Hull advised that Whitmer crossed the median and also the eastbound lanes of U.S. 40 and continued off the road, striking a tree.

Whitmer was said to be awake, but not responding to commands. Her two-year-old son, who was in a car seat and buckled in was removed from the vehicle and released to the father who came to the scene.

Whitmer was transported by Medic 5.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jackie A. Ivers, 27, Fillmore, was driving eastbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 475 East.

Ivers advised Sgt. Gregg Slover that a deer entered the roadway in front of him and could not avoid hitting the animal with his 2010 Ford Fusion.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, Jacob M. Ensor, 22, Greencastle, was traveling eastbound on County Road 350 North when he fell asleep.

Slover noted that Ensor left the roadway on the north side striking a guardrail, which caused his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado to overturn.

Ensor complained of pain throughout his body and was transported via Operation Life to Putnam County Hospital.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 6:12 a.m. on Friday, Jon A. Campbell, 53, Greencastle, was traveling southbound on U.S. 231.

Campbell advised Hull that he was attempting to turn left onto Interstate 70 and thought John M. Nees, 67, Cloverdale was in a turn lane when he pulled his 2007 Ford 2x3 into his path of travel.

Nees advised that he was unable to stop his 1999 Chevrolet Lumina when Campbell pulled in front of him.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
