Salman to play Jazz at the Duck

The Thursday, Nov. 20 installment of Jazz at the Duck will feature local jazz favorite Randy Salman.

The concert will take place from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at The Fluttering Duck inside The Inn at DePauw.

Salman is professor of woodwinds and jazz studies at DePauw University.

An accomplished performer of both jazz and classical music, he has worked professionally with the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra (Indianapolis), is a charter member of the Chicago Jazz Orchestra and has performed with Indianapolis Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, David Baker, Gunther Schuller, Quincy Jones, Tony Bennett, Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Ray Charles and many others.

Salman is a member of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and has performed on programs at the International Association for Jazz Education Conference and International Clarinet Association Clarinetfest.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, Salman studied clarinet with Larry Combs, Howard Klug and Leon Russianoff.

Joining Salman will be Kevin Johnson on drums and Steve Snyder on Hammond organ.

This will be the final Jazz at the Duck of November, as the following Thursday will be Thanksgiving.
