Tigers land five on All-Region

Five student-athletes from the DePauw field hockey team were named to the 2014 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region teams for the Great Lakes region.

Seniors Paige Henry (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) and Maggie Campbell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and junior Grace Goodbarn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain View) were first team selections, while senior Grace Fisher (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and freshman Maddy Burds (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) earned second team honors.

Henry, a first team selection in 2013 and 2011, and second team honoree in 2012, led the North Coast Athletic Conference in goals (18), points (43) and shots (108). Her five game-winning goals led the team and she was second on the squad with seven assists. During the 2014 season she was an all-NCAC first team selection, named the conference player of the week, voted to the NCAC all-tournament team and was selected to participate in the Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior Game.

Campbell is making her first appearance on the first team after being a second team selection last season. The all-NCAC first team selection tied for first in the conference with 11 assists, tied for second with 14 goals and was second with 39 points. Her 84 shots were good for fourth in the NCAC, while her 29 career assists rank second in DePauw history. Campbell will join Henry to play in the Division III Senior Game on November 22, in Lexington, Va.

Goodbarn is making her second-straight appearance on the first team after being a second team selection in 2012. The junior has been a consistent leader for the Tigers, totaling six goals and six assists in the 2014 season. An all-NCAC first team selection, her 79 shots ranked fifth in the conference and she was fourth on the team with 18 points.

In her first collegiate season, Burds played a significant role in DePauw's midfield, earning all-NCAC second team honors. The freshman midfielder collected one goal and two assists during the season.

Fisher totaled a career-high five goals, adding two assists and 38 shots. The senior attacker started all 18 games and was named to all-NCAC honorable mention team for her contributions this season.

The Tigers finished the season with a 16-3 record, going 12-2 in the NCAC.
