Tasty Outreach

Thanks to volunteers coordinating the annual community-wide Thanksgiving Outeach Dinner Thursday at Greencastle Christian Church, more than 270 meals were distributed to local residents without family nearby with whom to celebrate or the means to purchase food supplies for a big holiday dinner. Sandy Wiggs (above, center), filling containers with turkey portions, is joined by Glenda Edwards (left) adding cups of gravy and Johanna Koffi, dipping up mashed potatoes. Meanwhile, at the other end of the assembly line, Robert and Amanda Massing parcel out chicken and noodles for hungry recipients. Church volunteers planned for 225 meals, coordinator Tammy Newgent noted, but were able to fulfill 271 requests with an additional 13 persons on a waiting list as of noon Thursday.
