Sunday, November 30, 2014

Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center is expanding its cancer care by partnering with Franciscan Physician Network-Oncology and Hematology Specialists.

In accordance with the partnership, Dr. Jaime J. Ayon will be joining Dr. Frank Workman.

"Dr. Ayon is indeed a well-trained physician," Dr. Workman said.

"More than that," he added, "he is a good listener and a very personable person. His patients really like him and of course, he has a good rapport with the staff as well as patients. He will be a wonderful addition to the Putnam Oncology Program and the community."

Dr. Ayon will begin seeing patients at the PCH Cancer Center on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and will continue seeing patients every Wednesday.

Dr. Workman will continue seeing patients every Monday and Thursday.

"We are excited to expand our practice so we can reach more patients who are in need of our quality cancer care," Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center Manager Rhonda McCammack, RN, said. "Our goal is to grow our practice while enhancing the high quality and comprehensive care we offer to patients in a convenient, close-to-home setting."

Dr. Ayon received his undergraduate education at University of Guayaquil, Ecuador. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Medical Oncology/Hematology at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y.

For patients who are undergoing cancer treatments, Putnam County Hospital offers a comprehensive plan with holistic care to meet the medical, spiritual and emotional needs of the patients. The staffed registered nurses are oncology-certified through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), a national organization.

The Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons.
