Bessie V. Burks

Bessie V. Burks, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at Lakeview Manor, Indianapolis.

She was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Bluefield, Va. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Rebecca J. (Pucket) Johnson.

She married Elza Lee Burks, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Patty S. Barks, Indianapolis, and son Kenneth W. Edwards, Indianapolis, and eight grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley E. Edwards, and many brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at Stilesville Cemetery.

Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
