Life begins at 80

The five children of Jesse and Era Martin are all alive and well in their 80s with youngest brother Otis "Max" Martin celebrating his 80th birthday on Dec. 11. The five siblings are (front from left) Betty Snodgrass, 87; Everett, 84; (back) Elsie Padgett, 81; Max, 80; and Lee, 85.

With Otis "Max" Martin turning 80 on Thursday, Dec. 11, all five children of the late Jesse and Era Martin are now in their 80s.

The five siblings, Betty Snodgrass, 87; Lee Martin, 85; Everett Martin, 84; Elsie Padgett, 81; and Max, now 80, have all been blessed with long life, and if their parents are any indication, they can hope for more years.

Father Jesse lived to be 90 years old. Mother Era died one month past her 101st birthday.

All five Martin siblings celebrate birthdays between November and February.
