County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 8:43 a.m., Thomas Richard Harris, 66, Quincy, was charged with battery.

At 11:13 a.m., Andrew Jason Vargas, 40, Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed several medical runs, lift assists and has responded to multiple dispatches recently.

* At 9:32 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, GFD was called to 403 E. Seminary St. for a fire alarm due to burnt popcorn.

* At 2:19 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, GFD was called to 300 Warren Dr. for a fire alarm that was triggered due to a malfunction.
