Steve Ray Vermillion

Steve Ray Vermillion, 71, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.

He was born on March 26, 1943 in Crawfordsville to Wendall Shaw Vermillion and Nettie Duncan Vermillion.

Steve served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was the owner of Vermillion Electric and was a member of the Eagles Aerie 4388, Loyal Order of Moose 1592 and American Legion Post 58.

He was preceded in death by his father; an infant son, Nathan; and two daughters, Shirley and Debbie.

Surviving are his children, Todd Vermillion and wife Laura of Clayton, Tisha Vermillion and fiancée Joe Eiler of Coatesville, and Patricia Gail McDaniel of Cincinnati; his mother, Nettie Pettit of Greencastle; three brothers, Ronnie Vermillion of Cloverdale , Jerry Vermillion of Greencastle, and Danny Vermillion of Greencastle; a sister, Debbie Burke and husband Steve of Reelsville; and seven grandchildren, including Hailey Wood, Annalyse Vermillion and Garrett Vermillion; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will celebrate Steve's life at noon Saturday, Jan. 17 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
