Amanda L. Reiblich

Amanda L. Reiblich, 99, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.

She was born on July 19, 1915 in Lizton to Roscoe Leak and Minnie Noe Leak.

Amanda was a graduate of Lizton High School and graduated from Central Normal College, and subsequently received her Master of Education degree from the University of Maryland.

Amanda started teaching in Indiana in 1935, and taught in the Lizton, Pendleton and Greenfield school districts.

During World War II, she worked for the government in Washington, D.C., making maps.

She married her first husband, John K. Hess, on Valentine's Day 1946. After his death, she returned to teaching in the D.C. schools and then moved to Maryland schools, where she was a counselor.

Amanda married her second husband, Karl F. Reiblich, in 1975, and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Amanda was a member of Greencastle Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis, Putnam County Chaplaincy Board, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and numerous other civic clubs.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Brenner; a brother, J. Robert Leak; and a nephew, James Roscoe Leak.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Nancy Leak Ritchardson and husband Dana, John Leak and wife Vicki, Joe Leak and fiancée Kelei, Jaynie Leak, Jonathon Michael Leak and wife Eileen, Katherine Elizabeth Leak, and Joseph Michael Leak (son of Michael and Eileen Leak).

Also surviving are special cousins Joanne Hunt Tharp and John Hunt and former neighbor and extraordinary friend Betsy Demmings.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Lizton K of P Cemetery with Pastor Wes Kendall officiating.

Memorials in Amanda's name may be directed to Greencastle Presbyterian Church, Karl and Amanda Reiblich Endowment Fund, or the charity of one's choice.
